A Life Worth Living gives the reader a candid, vividly refreshing account of life in a one parent family, living on a farm, growing up hopelessly poor, in what seems like a perpetual depressive state of emotional darkness and chaos, brought on by tragedy and personal loss.
Despite the sad, dark undertones painted early on, Author, Esther Portalatin-Leighton's story, soon begins to reverberate with echos of hope, through the heroic ambition and unbridled enthusiasm, embodied in a strong-minded, crafty, yet endearing 13 year old ingénue, named Skye.
A young life with a vision, the young girl is determined to rescue her mother and family from the ravages of depression and the dark recesses of financial ruin that threaten the family's entire future.
Unstoppable and against her mother's wishes, Skye is bent on making a brave, surreptitious attempt to set her plans in to motion, certain that they will catapult her mother and family to great new heights of spiritual, personal and financial triumph. However, the journey is not without its obstacles and major hurdles. The excitement builds, but I won't give the rest away.
